Communication within different cultures

Most people might think that they don’t communicate any different from one culture to the next. But have you ever paid attention to see if you do or don’t. For me I know that I communicate different from one culture to the next, sometimes without realizing I’m doing it. My husband is an Asian and his cutler is Hmong. My husband and his brothers and sisters speak both American and Hmong. Where his parents are only fluent in their native language (Hmong), this is very command among the elders. For most of them can understand English, but are just unable to speak English very well. When I am communicating with his parent or an elder I tend to slow down how fast I speak so they have a better understanding what I’m saying. I also speak slower so if they don’t understand a word they can ask what it means. I also use more facial expressions with the communication so they are easier to read than some language. I also use my hands more to express something or to show them something. In the beginning of interacting with his parents made me worried and supper shy. It also took me a while to understand their religion, gender standers and accepting there difference from how I was raised as a child. As of today I have learned a lot about their culture, the way they do thing and to understand and respect their culture.
The more I learn about communication the better I can do to communicate better with everyone around me. Some things that I have learned already is when you have a large gap between cultures its more affective to ask as many question possible in ensuring you completely understand what they are stating. You also want to rephrase what they are telling you so you can make sure you’re getting in information correct, but also so they know as well that you understand what was said. You just won $100.00 and you want to express to someone from another culture your amazing news. Before you do, you might want to learn more about someone culture so you don’t offend them. Not every culture expresses the same way as you were raised. By knowing this information you are able to express what you want in the correct way within their culture.

week 2 Blogger

The show that I watched without any noise was called Workaholics. When  first started watching the show I could tell that they were friends on this show. I could tell this by their closeness of body language with each other. An example of this would be they were smacking each other around. That it was no big deal. Where if someone were to smack you that was not your friends would start a fight. You could also tell that they were friends because they were in a child’s indoor playground drinking beers while laughing. Most people who are not friends wouldn't be caught drinking a whole pitcher of beer with someone else especially in a child’s play area.
You could easily tell that they were having a great time. For the simple reason that they were laughing with each other. Smacking one another while having a conversation, which most people won't smack another unless they are joking around. There was another male that later showed up in the show who was not happy. He looked like a co worker of the place they were at. How i was able to tell that he was no happy because he had his arms crossed, his body language was closed and not inviting, the look on his face was not happy with them at all and it looked like he didn't say much to the other’s. His overall body language was not inviting compared to the other boys body language which was opening.
Once I turned the volume up so I could hear it again, I had learned that the coworker was coming around and now having fun with the other men. He was sliding down the slide, laughing at something and drinking pitchers of beers with them. I think I ended up watching a show that really have much of  a plot where you couldn't tell what was going on. If i happened to watch a show more complex than this one I probably would have not been able to tell what was going on very well. If I were to watch a show that I had been many episodes on I could probably know what was going on better because I have a better understanding and idea of the show. Its easier to read and understand people when you have a better understanding of a person, than if you had never have meat them before.
